De Spaanse Heester — heritage breathing again

Outcome

Sold above asking

Heritage, retranslated Sold above asking

De Spaanse Heester is a Bruges heritage property with layers of history that did not all ask to be preserved, and did not all ask to be removed. The question was simpler: which layer carries the story now, and which one is just weight?

Our interventions were minimal and precise. Original detailing was emphasised where it carried meaning, softened where it distracted. Material choices referred to the building without imitating it. Art arrived in places where the architecture already asked a question and now received an answer.

The property sold above asking to a buyer who could read the history — precisely because it had been made readable again. Heritage does not work by preserving as much as possible. It works by being clear about what stays.
